Zero Consequences

I remember complaints that Clark never faced any repercussions for his crime spree in Metropolis. Recently I've wondered if this could part of a long term plan on the part of TPTB. Lex is quite likely to connect the events of that summer to the future Superman. If TBTB are going with the idea of Lex-as-Segit-who-thinks-he's-the-hero, then Lex's belief would be supported by the knowledge that Superman had acted criminally and gotten away with it. If they allow Lex to be suspicious that Clark is Superman, then he also has all the times Clark acted badly (Red and Rush), as well as the certainty that Clark is a liar, to add to his picture of a dangerous Superman. When his plane is ripped open at the beginning of season four, Lex will have his own experience of a super crime. And if he makes the connection between that and the roof of his Porche being ripped off this would add into the tally against Clark specifically. The knowledge that the famous proponent of "Truth, Justice ... and other stuff" was a lying criminal would destroy any positive influence Clark or Superman could have on him. Instead it would reinforce his belief that he is acting heroically and that it's ok to break the rules.
Thoughts?
ETA: Spoiler free folks, if you're still reading, is that enough spoiler protection or is the implication of a spoiler relevent to this topic enough of a spoiler itself? Should I have cut-tagged the whole entry?

I love you and you are a genius. *worships at attolia's feet*
I think you are dead on. Absolutely dead on.

I hope this is what they are doing. I doubt I would find it convincing (or enjoyable) if they try to turn Lex into an unsympathetic villain

But Bo Kent knows the most, and surely by extension Ma Kent does too ... so how come they haven't done anything or acted differently or even restricted Clark's behavior or actions in any way?
Of course, maybe they did and I just don't remember it ... I have to admit I'm one of those few that watch it just the once, even tho I have the available season DVDs. *blushes*

I think the rest of the towns reaction isn't something we'd see on screen. If they actually showed us the kids in school, maybe we'd see him sent for counseling, but they've pretty much forgotten that these kids are students.
It isn't unusual for there to be loose ends on Smallville. I was mostly thinking about the long term implications of Superman's youthful crime spree.

I've been spoiler-free till now but thanks to ads I saw in this week's comics I finally said "what the heck" and read under your cut-tag. And then didn't even understand it. Oh well! In a few weeks I'll know....

2) If your postulation turns out to be true...well, I still wouldn't stop calling Al 'Homer', but I would stop snarling so hard when I type 'AlMiles'.
I really hope this or something like it is true......(*sigh*}
Thank you for something to hope for!
