Harry Potter preorder question

My daughter's birthday is a few weeks before the release date and I am thinking of preordering the book for her. Can any of you tell me how good Amazon is at getting the book to you on it's release date? We could do the bookstore thing, but I'd rather just get it in the mail.

The two times we ordered it through Amazon, it definitely did arrive on the release date. However, we still ended up buying another copy by going to the store around midnight (which also entailed driving around at night to find a bookstore that had extra copies.)

This year, we'll just pre-order at a store. There's something incomparable about being around other people who adore the book and series as much as you.

Thanks. I may wait and see if my daughter expresses interest in that. She's only ten and has trouble if her schedule gets disrupted too much, which is why I won't suggest getting the book at midnight. But if she asks to do it, I'll give it a try. It is on a weekend ...

Amazon has it fedexed to you (no extra charge.) You get it the day it comes out.
