I enjoyed this episode more than any in some time.
I think one reason it worked was that it didn't depend much on continuity with other episodes, something SV is notoriously bad at. There was more spark in all the performances which suggests the actors may be getting bored with the show, too. MR, in particular, was more on than he has been in ages.
Likes:
Clark is obsessed with Lex, the thing that gets him to doubt himself is the possibility that he hadn't saved Lex. Chloe supporting Crazy!Clark. Martha being afraid of him. Martian Manhunter! (but no Oreos this time).
Clark's comment to Lex in the Talon at the end. One major problem I have with the idea that this Clark Kent will become Superman is his attitude toward Lex. Canon Supes doesn't tolerate the crimes, but he is still somewhat charitable to the man. This was the first time SV's Clark has acted that way. I hope it isn't a fluke.
Dislikes:
Clark still doesn't get that it's a problem that he was willing to give up the world for Lana. You'd think after trading his father's life for Lana's, albeit unintentionally, he might already question how far he should be willing to go for her, but no, nothing gets in the way of the dreaded Clana.
There were some problems with the story as
bob_radar has pointed out. For me, seeing the characters (and actors) get out of their ruts for an episode was enough to make up for that.

Exactly. That's been a big beef of mine all along. Supes, at least in the Silver Age, didn't tolerate Lex's crimes or bad behavior, but he always did keep hoping he'd change and was never cruel to him. Something like this.
