It always takes me a while to adjust to the discontinuity that is season 5, but once it sunk in that Lex isn't interested in Clark's friend ship, but just his secrets, that Lana is convinced that Lex is evil despite all he's done for her and despite her own questionable actions, I did enjoy parts of this episode.

I like Lex sparring with Lana. I think I may enjoy it when she comes crawling back to him after finding out about Clark's renewed deceit.

I loved the Luthor scene at the end. Beginning with Lex's look of terror through all the changes in his emotions, it was loads of fun. I'm glad Lionel back.

The Lionel-el/Clark scene was creepy. What must Clark felt seeing Lionel as his father?

Of course there were the parts I didn't like:

The slur against MIT students.

The absurdity of the missile break in.

Bo's attitude about sex. Yes, it was in character for him, and I was glad to see Martha express her own opinion again, but Bo is still an asshat.

The hospital crying scene seemed overdone, but I never like those. Of course Lana manages to mourn without smudging her make up.

Clark thinking that if he can just hide the lack of scar no one will notice that he was shot, dead, and then miraculously recovered. Heck, if he just showed there was no evidence of injury, he might have a shot of convincing people it was all a weird Smallville illusion. And keep Lana. Hm, maybe his stupidity was not so bad ...

Lex thinking he can just order minions to defy physics and solve his problems.

I watched an old Small Park (Best Friends Forever) after Smallville. Kenny's resurrection scene was way cooler.

Did she do this? I guess a rewatch is in order. I just remember her standing there looking shocked, and wondering "why doesn't she say something?" as I often do when Bo's being unreasonable.

Right now I'm torn between whether Jonathan or Chloe will die for Clark. Jonathan is the father figure, important to his development. Chloe is becoming the shaping force of his professional self (and possibly the hero self - it'll be interesting to see how her part in his life plays out). Maybe they'll shock us all and kill Martha. I really, really doubt that ever they'd think of it being Lana.
