From the limited S5 spoilers I've seen, I knew the only thing from my personal Smallville wish list that I was going to get was better Chloe/Clark interaction. That was really the only good part of this episode. ("Pete saw your space ship?!") Lex is being treated as a comic book villain, appropriate, I guess, given the tone set by the silly/creepy bald FOTWs. At least there was no Lois.

It was several hours before I realized I'd rewound the tape to tape over this episode. I didn't even think to save "Arrival". Smallville has become just another show.

(Ok. If I get a chance I will go back and watch the clex fight scene before it's taped over, but that's the only part that tempts me).

I loved Chloe/Clark together! She's great and they have a really nice relationship with far more SIZZLE about it, than Clark-Lana. In fact, if you have this kind of Chloe and Clark, who needs Lana at all?

Unfortunately, I never ever liked comic book or film Lex Luthor - he's a cartoon, as you point out, and a one-dimensional boring one at that. Poor Lex - MR worked so hard to make him a full and interesting character and they've tossed that all out the door now.

The show has surprisingly done an excellent job of developing Chloe as a plausible, likable character.
